Subic Beach Matnog 11 600x400 Subic Beach and Tikling Island: Matnogs Hidden Gems sorsogon philippine destinations philippine featured articles bicol beaches posts review

Good thing we didn’t let our apprehensions and uneasiness about braving the rambling waves without life jackets nor admissible swimming skills stop us from sailing to the island. With our boatman’s skillful maneuvers, probably from years of dealing with the angst and tantrums of the seas, we were able to moor safely at its shores with no drama or casualties, with the exception perhaps of our friend who had disgorged back to the ocean all the seafood she had eaten for lunch. It was definitely worth pursuing this trip.

Who would have thought that at the tip of Southern Luzon in the overlooked town of Matnog in Sorsogon, mostly known for its ferry terminal connecting the mainland with the nearby island of Samar in the Visayas, lies some pristine beaches, just half an hour’s boat ride from the coast. These aren’t your typical white-sand tropical beaches though, but rather two unspoiled islands with rare pink sandy shores and inviting azure waters that beach lovers would find hard to resist.

Relax at the Deck of this Gorgeous Infinity Pool and Feel the breeze of the Ocean while sipping on your Favorite drink.

It's easy getting to Dawis Beach. Everyone knows where it is so there's hardly any need for an elaborate instruction. You can hail a pedicab (a tricycle), agree on a fare (P30-50 fair one-way should be reasonable), this would take about 30 minutes or so from the city center. Getting away from the beach is also easy although rides get fewer from dusk.

A beautiful white sand beach in General Santos City

General Santos offers a dynamic city experience with the natural wonders of the Philippines only a few moments out of the center. In Gensan you can enjoy the sea, the surrounding countryside paradise and the clubs, restaurants and amenities of the city. Perhaps the best way to experience General Santos is to wake up early and go down to the fisherman's port to see the local fishermen docking with their catch of freshly caught fish.

The Green Beach of General Santos City

Despite being an urban travel destination Gensan has it's roots in agriculture and is the gate way to a trip up the SOCSKSARGEN coast which has beaches and water sport opportunities as well as nature trails and idyllic countryside. If you prefer nature to city life the nearby KlajaKarst Eco-park is a nature reserve not to miss. Within the eco-park is Kalajacave, explore the rock formations and take a swim in the water inside the cave. The park also has waterfalls, springs, indigenous plants and campgrounds. If you enjoy the outdoors then also visitMalakong Gorge for some hiking, or you could hike up Nopol Hills for incredible views. For more seasoned climbers try Mount Matutum, one of the highest mountains in Mindanao.

General Santos Beach

General Santos or Gensan on the Philippine island of Mindanao, southeast of Manila is a vibrant urban hub although the surrounding agricultural countryside is the city's biggest industry together with fishing. You can be sure to get fresh fruit and veggies in General Santos as well as some of the best fish dishes in the Philippines. The fish industry in General Santos specializes in Tuna which earned General Santos the reputation as the "capital of tuna in the Philippines", delicious fresh produce and catch-of-the-day tuna make Gensan an ideal place for great meals out. Talking of Tuna, the annual Tuna Festival in August has parades, parties, competitions and of course lots of tuna dishes!

Manila Beach

Apo Island Beach Resort -pristine beauty

The Philippines -about 90 million people living on 7000 islands, voted the happiest people on our planet in a 2005 global survey (reference -The Lonely Planet -who else?!). 90% are Christian, mostly Roman Catholic, and 5% are Muslim. As we travel around the country we have seen a distressing number of signs of varied Christian sects including Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons and Baptists.

On the flight here, we also read in the Philippines Star Newspaper that the Philippines is the Capital of Text Messaging! And we have certainly witnessed this everywhere here where people walk along texting while not even looking up! And for our selves, we have never texted a message in our life! When we tell Filipinos this (and maybe when we tell you!) they are shocked!

Apo - our pumboat in action

Philippines We flew in to the airport on Mactan Island and explored here later visiting the Allegre Guitar factory, the countryside and the beaches. Cebu City itself we found noisy and dirty and busy. The downtown was depressing to walk about - many children begging, darting in and out of traffic to do so -scary! - people living on the streets, vendors set up everywhere selling everything you can imagine.

The highlight in Cebu was connecting with our friend Cristine who we met on our GAP Galapagos trip and who is originally from Cebu. We had fun together and explored the Uptown life of Cebu and saw the very modern fancy hotels and shopping malls and the casino - no we did not play. Thank you Cristine for timing your visit here with ours! Hope we connect.

The Relaxing Cottages in Boragay

It is common nowadays for travel agencies to offer appealing packages for considerable price. This has always been an effective marketing strategy. While there is a common notion to snag the best deal that you can find, it is advisable to step back and rethink.
An affordable package is also a trap that can pass easily as a good deal. Before snagging such deal, inquire about it. You may ask the company about the scope of the package, and the sole reason behind low prices. As a customer, you have the right to gather information about the service you want to purchase. Whenever you encounter seemingly implausible deals, it is time to look the other way. Alternatively, you can report the dealer to the authorities.

Kite Surfing

Since Boracay is a popular destination, fraudsters can use it as easy bait for tourists.Fraudsters can just set up a bogus travel website—complete with top-notch information about Boracay as well as other enticing materials. Since the travel website has a legal payment method, you will probably think that it is for real.
To avoid encountering fake reservations for Boracay hotels, only choose sites that receive good reviews from users. Moreover, do not go for agencies that have low rankings and recommendations. Always bear in mind that a hotel in Boracay will not tie up with agencies that have low rankings.

Boragay's Vacation

Love is in the air even in Boracay! Popular for its very fine white sands and crystal clear blue waters, Boracay is not just a place for relaxation nor night party, it is not just for group of friends nor for families, Boracay is also a perfect place to spend the time together with your significant other.

The White Beach of Boragay

Boracay turns into a one big party place when the sun goes down. Thus people says, the life in Boracay starts during night. That makes it perfect for those who love to party and bar hop.
And for those who are not into loud music and dancing with the crowd, just staying on the boracay beach hotel will be appreciated. At present, there are hundreds of resorts in Boracay where you can experience world class accommodation. The Beauty of Boragay Beach

Boracay – A Living Paradise On Earth

Boracay Island – known to have a powdery white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, is said to be a paradise island off the province of Aklan in the Philippines. This island takes pride by consistently voted as one of the top ten beaches all over the world.
It is already given that this place has a natural beauty, but it won’t be named one of the best for nothing! Boracay has a lot to offer.

You can find them mostly on the 4-km. stretched of the White Beach, some are beachfront and others are non-beachfront. These are classified or categorized by the Department of Toursm (DOT) and the hotels and resorts' organization as Luxury, Triple A, Double A, mid-ranged, budget-type or backpackers.

Boragay Island Paradise.

Boragay Island is the most popular tourist destination not just in the Philippines but already claimed its fame all over the world with 908,875 visiting in 2011, up 16.6 percent from 2010. In December 2011 alone, arrivals shot up by 34 percent from 2010 figures, generating P1.43 billion in tourism receipts for the government.
From only one airline serving the destination in 2006, now all major Philippine carriers as well as chartered international flights are bringing in local and foreign tourists direct to Kalibo, the capital of Aklan, or Caticlan, the jump-off point to Boragay Island Paradise.

On Air

Bicol’s newfound sheen is largely due to the emergence of Camarines Sur – now fashionably called “Camsur” – as a watersports haven. The six-hectare Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC) inside the Provincial Capitol Compound in the town of Pili has a six-point cable ski system around a man-made lake conducive for wakeboarding, water skiing and knee boarding. ffering top-of-the-line facilities that include a pool, clubhouse, restaurant, grandstand and beach volleyball court as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot, CWC has been attracting the young and the young-at-heart with a passion for high-impact sports.

Of late, the adventurous from across Asia-Pacific have found their way to CWC to match skills in dexterity with their local counterparts. The complex has also been recently tapped to host international wakeboarding events.

Philippines Saud Beach

File:Pagudpud Beach.jpg

Its white-sand beaches and crystal-blue water makes Pagudpud a haven for tourists. Maira-Ira Point is also an emerging attraction with its secluded beach known as the Blue Lagoon, as well as kilometer-long Saud Beach. Access to this public beach is from a secondary concrete road on the north side of the Maharlika Highway just before approaching the Patapat Viaduct.

"Puerto Princesa"

"Puerto Princesa" to a princess-like maiden who in the early days is said to have roamed around the place on certain nights of the year. On the other hand, practical people attribute the name to the geographical advantages of the place as a seaport – naturally protected the whole year round and endowed with a depth that can accommodate any size of shipping – a royal haven for vessels or a virtual princess.

Interesting Beach

Some of the best beaches in the Philippines in my opinion are the isolated ones with no road access. iThese can be located by chatting to local fishermen and hiring them to take you there. gree with this ,beach combing, walking the coastal route and discover your own little beach, even sometimes you have to climbs rocks or swim across mouths of rivers hope no salt water crocs. Personally not keen of a guide , stupid as this may sound , but looking for isolated beaches ,just wander about is an added zest by foot or by boat t's not like going into the outbacks . In the little philippine islands it's hard to get lost .I like the sipalay area, to explore further up the sipalay hinoba-an stretch away from the developments ,just following the coastline looks interesting , they seem to have little development

White Sand in the Philippines

pristine-cebu-beach.jpg

The beach is like none I’ve seen before. It’s a bit of a pedicure experience to walk on as it’s made from ground up bleached coral, but the beauty is unparalleled The frat boy laziness rubbed off on me and I only carried my very small point and shoot, so I don’t have many options to play around with zoom and exposure and stuff, but I will capture what I can.

The Paradise of Cebu City

cebu philippines beaches

Filipino’s consider Cebu a trendy destination, even capturing the interest and fancy of millions of foreigners yearly. In one month’s time, there have been thousands of Koreans that visit Cebu Island. It’s a matter of choice in where you visit in Cebu. For the history lover there are historical museums or strolling around Fort San Pedro. Water activities like diving, parasailing, and jet skiing, as well as wandering around the gardens are just a few of the many activities visitors enjoy. Shopping malls cover several acres of land. The world famous Carbon Market, reminds one of the shopping districts in Bangkok and Hong Kong.

Boragay Island

Boracay Island was an almost possessively guarded secret so that only a few knew of its existence. Tourism only began to develop in the 1970s, when, it is said, a foreign movie crew accidentally "discovered" this island paradise. Others maintain that it was the German traveler, 'Jens Peters' book, which included rave reviews of Boracay that changed the island’s pace from that of being a quiet secret to eventually being voted as having the best beach in the world. Whichever story is true, it was around this time that Boracay Island slowly ceased to be a private hangout for travelers.

Boragay (Philippines)

Boracay is an island of the Philippines located approximately 315 km (200 miles) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. South-facing Cagban Beach is located across a small strait from the jetty port at Caticlan on Panay island, and the Cagban jetty port serves as Boracay's main entry and exit point during most of the year. When wind and sea conditions dictate, east-facing Tambisaan Beach serves as an alternative entry and exit point.

Boracay's two primary tourism beaches, White Beach and Bulabog Beach, are located on opposite sides      of the island's narrow central area. White Beach faces westward and Bulabog Beach faces eastward. The        island also has several other beaches.

Wavepool in Davao City

Emars Wavepool

Davao City, the water park offers a different kind of fun. The wavepool is a large swimming pool with artificial waves that stimulates the waves of the ocean. Although the machine that stimulates waves is not always turned on, still the waves would come out every now and then. Within the wavepool are slides, toddler creeks and bubble pools. They even have a Jacuzzi where adults can take a dip. Lifeguards are also seen beside the pool area so you can be sure of your kid’s safety. Known as the first ever wavepool in Mindanao covering 2000 sqm, Emars Wavepool Hotel, Beach Resort and Restaurant boosts refined ambiance and sophisticated function halls along with its restaurants which offers international and Filipino cuisines.

This is a photo of Dayang Beach Resort located in Talicud Island, Samal. The resort is about 1 hour boat travel from the Sta. Ana Wharf of Davao City. White Sand

Boracay Philippines, Boracay Hotel, Boracay Resort, Boracay Holiday, Boracay Beach, Boracay Beach Resort, Water Sports, Mount Luho, Bat Cave, Dead Forest, Scuba Dive - Boracay Island

Boracay Island, seven kilometers long and one kilometer wide at its widest, is world famous for much more than mesmerizing sunsets. Its main beach is so pure that the sand beneath one's feet stays cool under its tropical, sun-drenched shoreline. Additionally, this butterfly shaped island paradise has countless other attractions, both natural and man-made.

The Unique Spots

This is one of the best beach destinations in the world, with its powdery, white sand and wide beaches. While measuring only 4.5 miles in length, there are beautiful beaches everywhere. There are secluded and exclusive spots open only to visitors of the resort fronting the beach, there are public areas where the sand is just as soft and where the view of the sunset is postcard pretty, and there are unique spots where white shells abound.

Green Clear of Beach

Tulum is more than a beach, though the Yucatan area does offer a great sunbathing spot. What is great about Tulum, however, are the ancient ruins that can be seen from the beach area. You can then rest and relax with a massage or spa treatment done in the traditional Mayan way.

Beautiful View of Beach

In Providenciales, you will surely find a spot that you can call your own. The beach is quiet and far from the maddening crowd, making it an ideal getaway for the whole family. Special mention must be made of Taylor Bay and Grace Bay. You can also explore underwater sea life at the island’s ample barrier reef, like Smith’s Reef. Try the ocean floor walk for a unique and different experience.  Honeymooners will also find the relaxed and intimate vibe of the place very romantic.
